New Moon Manifesting

New moons represent the beginning of a cycle, it’s a perfect time to revisit your hopes and dreams.  The new moon is considered a growth phase and if you can get into the habit of setting some time aside each month to focus on what you’d like to manifest in your life, you’ll be prepared to harness the magical energy associated with it and bring to fruition that which is for your highest good. You have 48 hours once the new moon begins to set your intentions. Why not give it go?  You may be pleasantly surprised.

You will need: a pen, some paper and/or a journal.

1. Set the Scene - Creating Sacred Space:

Create a sacred space. This can be a small area dedicated to meditating and reflection within the home.  You may like to choose a surface such as a table or ‘alter’ where you can place objects that are meaningful to you in a spiritual practice such as crystals, photos, ornaments etc but if this isn’t an option for your home right now, even a chair or cushion can be dedicated as your sacred space, it doesn’t have to be elaborate.  It is as your intention desires.  It’s simply an area which reminds you to take regular time to connect to yourself. 

You may like to light some incense.  Incense is great for clearing away any unhelpful energy.  If you find it uncomfortable to be in the same room as burning incense, then perhaps burn it beforehand and open some windows afterwards or you can simple imagine the room filled with a beautiful white light that is cleansing and purifying your space.  Playing soft, gentle meditation music may also help create a relaxed ambience.

There are no hard and fast rules, it’s simply creating a space that you feel completely comfortable and at ease in.  Choose times to enjoy your sacred space whent you know you won’t be disturbed and when you can switch off.

Some people like to start their ritual by having a warm, relaxing bath to help them prepare.  You could add your favourite bubble bath or himalayan, epsom or magnesium salts are great for detoxing. Make this time as calming and soothing as possible. 

2. Settling Down

Now you’ve created this sacred space, it’s time to relax deeper and to help you to do this, begin by concentrating on your breathing.  Simply follow the breath as it enters the body, feel the expansion of the abdomen and chest and then feel them sink on the outbreath.  You may like to place one hand on your chest and one hand on your abdomen as you breathe to become really in tune with your body.  Allow your breath to flow gently and deepen naturally.  Let your shoulders drop away from your ears and with each out breath allow your body to relax further.  Embody a sense of gratitude to your body.

3. Affirm

Once you feel relaxed and at ease, open up with a positive affirmation.  Express gratitude for everything in your life right now, welcome transformation and growth and ask that any outcomes shall be for the greater good. 

4. Writing your desires down:

On a piece of paper or in a journal, write the date and choose some of the following words or write your own if you prefer:

“I trust that I receive exactly what I need at exactly the right time. I am blessed. I accept these things or something better into my life now for the highest good of all”

Take some time to think about your list before you write it.  Ensure your affirmations are always in the present tense and positive.  If you use the future tense such as ‘I will have’ or ‘I am going to receive’ your intentions will remain in the future. Focus on what you want, not what you don’t want.  The universe doesn’t recognise words such as ‘don’t’, so in effect if you write 'I don’t want to be in pain', it’s interpreted as ‘I want to be in pain!’ Not the desired outcome at all!  Instead start your sentences off with ‘I am’ or ‘I have’.  Keep it simple and concise. Here are some examples:

I have full financial freedom

I have a deep and meaningful relationship

I am fully supported by true friends

Spend some time now to allow yourself to feel. How would it feel to have whatever it is now?  Experience it, live those feelings right now, in this present moment.  If it doesn’t feel right, cross it off your list.

Finish by declaring: “I release attachment to outcome, I am grateful”  By releasing our attachments to the outcome it means we are free to notice lots of opportunities coming our way that we may otherwise dismiss.

5.  Conclusion:

Some people like to finish their ritual by physically sending their desires out into the universe.  One method is to safely burn the piece paper outside under the new moon and as the final wisps of smoke extinguish say: 'So be it'

I believe it’s a good idea to keep a journal. If you like the idea of sending your desires out by burning the piece of paper they are written on, keep a copy of what you wrote in a journal to look back and reflect on.  When it’s time for your next new moon manifestation, write out your list once more in full.  Don't cross something off, simply omit that which you’ve received (remember to say thank you!) and use that which remains to refocus. You may find there's a need to  change how it is written down, it may be that the timing isn’t right or that when you’re really honest with yourself, you've listed something that wouldn't serve you for your highest good.  Just as life evolves so do your desires, you can change and add things as you feel is right.
